Freelancer is another site for finding work that made it to my trusted sites list. And with flying colors, I might add, easily in my top 3.

After this review here on my Freelancer Inn Blog,  I hope you will have enough information and determination to pursue jobs on this platform. It may help you land a few dollars!

Therefore, you should check Freelancer.com.

Disclosure: Bear in mind that some of the links in this post are affiliate links, and if you go through them to make a purchase, I will earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Keep in mind that I link these companies and their products because of their quality and not because of the commission I receive from your purchases. The decision is yours, and whether or not you decide to buy something is entirely up to you.
All this helps at keeping my little blog alive, thank you.

The right place for finding work – Freelancer

Freelancer

 Introduction:

freelancer

Freelancer, here is what they write about themselves:
Freelancer.com is the world’s largest freelancing and crowdsourcing marketplace by number of users and projects. We connect over 41,162,650 employers and freelancers globally from over 247 countries, regions and territories. Through our marketplace, employers can hire freelancers to do work in areas such as software development, writing, data entry and design right through to engineering, the sciences, sales and marketing, accounting and legal services.
Freelancer Limited is trading on the Australian Securities Exchange under the ticker ASX:FLN’.

Here is what Wikipedia says about them:
Freelancer is an Australian crowdsourcing marketplace website, which allows potential employers to post jobs that freelancers can then bid to complete. Founded in 2009, its headquarters is located in Sydney, Australia, though it also has offices in Vancouver, London, Buenos Aires, Manila, and Jakarta.

And now it’s my time to write about them. It’s a relatively common practice where you allow employers to post jobs and get freelancers to bid on them. If it’s not broken, don’t fix it.
First of all, unlike Upwork, it’s possible to use them completely free. A big plus for them in my book.

Details:

After setting up your account, you find yourself on the dashboard. All site has a dominant combination of white and blue colors. Design is nice and simplistic, hence the site is intuitive to use.

If you want to find a jobs section, you should click on ‘Browse Projects’, and that brings you to the place on Freelancer where all jobs are sorted according to your preferences.

It’s all here for you, and all are easy to customize to your preference. The most noteworthy thing to remember here is to input the right kind of skills you possess so that you can get the correct type of jobs listed. The list is updated continuously, and during a moment when you browse a few of them, already a nonintrusive window pops, informing you how many new jobs have been posted. All of them requiring the skills you have chosen.

You can see when the job was open, how many bids does it have, which skills are essential for it, and how well does it pay. Lots of information in here that are vital for you when you are choosing which one will you investigate further.
And when you find the right one, click on it and you will end up on bid for a job screen with some more details on it.

A little deeper – freelancer:

Freelancer bid

The project details screen is another clear example of great UX.
Details of a job, skills required for it (do not apply if you don’t have them all), bid detail bellow where you enter for how much will you are willing to do it, and how long will it take you to deliver.
On the right part of the screen, you can see info about the employer.
If he has a payment method verified, that’s a plus, and it builds his reputation a bit.

Finally, in the end, you describe your proposal. The most important part and here you must be creative to stand out from the crowd. Above all, be sincere, engage the client into the conversation if you can, do not write a wall of text.

Furthermore, make sure your grammar is on point (I use and recommend Grammarly for it)

You have sent your bid? Great! Now what? You get to see it, together with other people bids…

I recommend that you take a look at what are the other freelancers saying here. Especially the ones with high rates. Learn from them. Remember, on the free plan, you have eight bids/month. So, try to use most of it, send them only if you are sure that you have all the skills needed.

Freelancer membership plans

Probably, you’ll find yourself all out of bids. You‘ll spend them all. And rather than waiting a few days, you still want to apply for jobs – you can always go premium.

There are currently five premium plans, besides a free one. If I remember correctly, you can get a taste with the plus plan for free. Use it for a while and then decide if you like it, or will you stick to the free plan — your choice.

Summary – Freelancer:

Furthermore, Freelancer allows you to chat with other people. A very useful tool when you are negotiating for the job. Still, consequently, you will receive messages from strangers spamming you with their scams.
I remember one situation where the employer claimed that he’s representative of a large firm. It seemed legit at the first. Later it turned out that I should send them some money so that they could send me the needed equipment.

Keep an eye for the scammers, they can be everywhere, and if something looks too good to be true, it’s probably a scam od some sort.

Freelancer deals with them quickly after they got reported, and lately, I didn’t come across any. It could be my luck, or Freelancer manage to put a stop on it.
So, to recap, I must say that a Freelancer is a great tool. A one which can help you make money online if you are willing to use it correctly.

Give it a try, and good luck!
